Windsor
- Our first stop will be Windsor Castle. This
impressive royal castle was built, occupied and
loved by the royal family. We see the ceremony of
Changing of the Guard* and visit the restored State
Apartments. Highlights include the Waterloo
Chamber, St. George's Chapel and the Van Dyck
room.
Our
second stop is in Salisbury
which has the only cathedral built to a single
medieval architectural design. Built on a
grand scale, it has the tallest spire in Britain at
404 ft. The north aisle of the nave also contains
the world's oldest clock.
Our
last stop is Stonehenge,
Britain's most ancient monument whose construction
commenced over 4,000 years ago. The circle of
stones was quarried, carved and lifted into
position by the ancient Britons. Return
approximately 18:45.
*
At certain times during the summer, there may not
be a Changing of the Guard.
