Edinburgh

Who would
believe travelling from London to Edinburgh on a
one-day rail excursion was possible! Board the
high-speed train from London and watch the
countryside and coastline of Britain speed past
your window. You arrive in Edinburgh at
approximately 11:30 am.
Enjoy
spectacular views from Carlton Hill. First, we
visit Scotland's top visitor attraction Edinburgh
Castle standing high above the city. See the
Scottish Crown Jewels in the Royal Apartments. Look
for the tiny St. Margaret's Chapel, Edinburgh's
oldest building and listen for the one o'clock gun,
fired daily from Mills Mount Battery. See Holyrood
Palace - still a Royal residence and historic
murder scene of Rizzio, Secretary to Mary Queen of
Scots or walk through the ruins of its Abbey,
dating back to the 12th Century.
Walk down The
Royal Mile, the cobbled street linking the Castle
into town, passing St. Giles' High Kirk, John Knox
House, the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre, Camera
Obscura and many other museums and buildings of
historic interest.
Spend a quiet
half hour enjoying the tranquillity of Princes
Street Gardens or stroll along Princes Street,
Edinburgh's main shopping thoroughfare, browsing
amongst its many stores on the look out for tweeds
and tartans or try some Scottish
shortbread.
We reboard
our late afternoon train back to London arriving at
King's Cross Station at approximately 22:15
hrs.
