STONEHENGE, AVEBURY AND SILBURY HILL EVENING MINI-COACH TOUR

PRICE:
75 POUNDS PER ADULT
70 POUNDS PER CHILD (3 - 16 YEARS)

Experience the history, mystery and magic of the greatest stone circle in the world !

This special tour begins with a scenic countryside drive along the old London-Bath coaching road taking us into the heart of ancient Britain. Our first stop is at the medieval village of Avebury, which is ringed by the largest stone circle in the world and the product of over 500 years of effort by Neolithic man. Enjoy a unique walking tour of the stone circle where your guide will demonstrate the art of dowsing. Try it yourself and prepare to be amazed! There is also time to explore the picturesque village of Avebury with it's thatched cottages, antiques and beautiful church. Maybe enjoy a cream tea, or a pint in the Red Lion Pub - the only pub in the world in the middle of a prehistoric stone circle.

Afterwards, we take a leisurely walk to West Kennet Long Barrow, one of the largest Neolithic burial tombs in Britain and over 5000 years old. Your guide will take you into the burial chambers and bring it's fascinating history alive. You will also see mysterious Silbury Hill - the largest man made mound in ancient Europe - even after centuries of research archaeologists have still not discovered its original purpose.

We then take a scenic drive over the Marlborough Downs and through the beautiful Pewsey valley. We pass famous white horses carved into the chalk hillsides and picturesque, tucked away villages. We explore the mysterious phenomena of crop circles and take a closer look at any which may be in the area (seasonal).

Our final (and most spectacular) stop is at Stonehenge, standing in lone majesty over Salisbury Plain. Most visitors are not allowed direct access to the stones but we have arranged with English Heritage for privileged access after the site has closed to the general public. There is a chance to visit the souvenir shop before you enter the temple complex . Your guide will explain the history of this ancient site and the many myths and legends that surround it. There will be an hour for you to enjoy the peaceful and mystical atmosphere of Stonehenge. You are free to take photographs and video footage (not for commerical use). On certain dates our visit coincides with sunset for a truly memorable experience.

A very special opportunity not to be missed.

Departs London between 11:00 and 15:00 (Times vary according to Month and dates - please enquire)

STONEHENGE AND SALISBURY MORNING MINI-COACH TOUR INCLUDING BREAKFAST

PRICE:
85 POUNDS PER ADULT
75 POUNDS PER CHILD (3 - 16 YEARS)

Experience the history, mystery and magic of the greatest stone circle in the world - enjoy an hour within the temple complex and 'touch the stones'.

An early departure from London for our special morning visit to Stonehenge, standing in lone majesty over Salisbury Plain. Most visitors are not allowed direct access to the stones but we have arranged with English Heritage for privileged access before the site opens to the general public. You will spend an hour inside the temple complex where your guide will explain the history of this ancient site and the many myths and legends that surround it. You are free to take photographs and video footage (not for commerical use). After your visit there will be time to visit the souvenir shop for a reminder of this magical experience.

Leaving Stonehenge we take a scenic drive through the beautiful Woodford Valley passing picturesque, tucked away villages. En route we stop off for a hearty traditional English breakfast . This is included in the price of your tour and is the perfect opportunity to reminisce on the experience of a lifetime within the temple of Stonehenge.

As we continue our journey your guide will point out Old Sarum Hillfort and you will enjoy spectacular views over the sweeping landscape of Salisbury Plain. Then we continue to Salisbury where you will visit one of England's finest cathedrals which was constructed over 750 years ago. The building is famous for it's elegant spire - the tallest in England at 404 feet high - and it's breathtaking interior . In the beautiful, gothic Chapter House there is the chance to view one of the last remaining copies of the Magna Carta (not available on Sunday mornings). There is also ample opportunity to stroll the streets of this ancient, market town and indulge in some souvenir shopping or perhaps some independent sightseeing.
NEW FOR 2007 (included in our tour will be an exclusive opportunity to climb the cathedral spire)

Enjoy spectacular views as you explore the roof spaces and tower, climbing 332 steps in easy stages by narrow winding spiral staircases to reach to the foot of the spire 225 feet above ground level. From here you can see up into the spire through the medieval scaffold, and from the outside you can look over the city and surrounding countryside.

We then head for London arriving back on the capital for approximately 1 - 1.30 pm giving you plenty of time to enjoy the afternoon.

A very special opportunity not to be missed.
